The trio brings together traditional plucked folk instruments from across the Hungarian-speaking world. The very way these instruments are played evokes an ancient musical tradition: bringing taut strings to life with a simple pluck.

Their resonant strings transport us to another time, revealing the distinctive soundscapes of communities living in small villages. Motifs refined over centuries of folk tradition meet the musical personalities and creative worlds of three young musicians living in the 21st century. This unique encounter gives rise to new musical expressions: old melodies are reimagined with care and respect, brought to the stages of major concert halls and made accessible to contemporary audiences.

Alexandra carefully selects fragments of traditional folk lyrics that hold a lifetime’s worth of meaning, exploring themes of celebration, love, sorrow and womanhood.

Bálint plays various types of tambura, bringing South Slavic folk influences into the repertoire alongside Hungarian traditions. A special highlight of the concerts is the samica, the oldest type of tambura, whose distinctive sound is complemented by Bálint’s singing.

Zalán plays the koboz, an essential instrument of the Moldavian communities in the easternmost reaches of the Hungarian-speaking world. His refined melodic playing and precise accompaniment are sure to get the audience’s feet moving.
